Prabhas’ much-awaited film clears CBFC with minor cuts
The Prabhas-headed horror comedy is all set to hit theatres on January 9, and excitement around the film has been building thanks to its scale, the comedy-horror mix and Prabhas’ pan-India appeal. The makers wrapped the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) process well ahead of release, and the board has passed the film with only a couple of targeted changes.
What the CBFC asked to change
The Examining Committee of the CBFC left the film’s dialogues and romantic sequences untouched, but requested edits to two graphic moments. According to the certified cut list:
- A sequence showing blood being washed off the floor was asked to be altered; the team chose to present this moment in monochrome (black-and-white) instead of full colour.
- A beheading shot was shortened by about 4 seconds and trimmed to rapid flash visuals rather than a prolonged depiction.
After these adjustments, the CBFC granted the film a U/A 16+ certificate on December 24, 2025.
Runtime and certification details
The censor certificate lists the running time as 189.00 minutes — that’s 3 hours and 9 minutes. With that length and the genre’s mix of scares and laughs, the movie promises a full-evening theatrical experience.
Release clash and other big players
The film opens the same day as the Tamil action drama starring Vijay, which reported a runtime of around 3 hours and 3 minutes. So both films will be competing for long-format weekend audiences.
Cast, crew and production
Alongside Prabhas, the ensemble includes Sanjay Dutt, Boman Irani, Nidhhi Agerwal, Malavika Mohanan, Riddhi Kumar and Zarina Wahab. The project is written and directed by Maruthi and produced by People Media Factory and IVY Entertainment.
Expectations ahead of release
With only a couple of gore-related trims and the star cast intact, the film heads into release almost as the makers intended. Fans of Prabhas and those who enjoy horror-comedy can expect a glossy, lengthy entertainer — and box-office observers will be watching how it performs against the competing big release.
